Birthday Fun

Happy Birthday to you, Oh! Happy Birthday to you! Every day and every hour, may you feel Jesus' power! Oh! Happy Birthday to you, Oh! Happy Birthday to you, and the best one you ever had.

In February, we celebrated our son's 3rd birthday. I can hardly believe he's 3! Such a big boy now. He dresses himself- including zippers- is learning to draw and paint in the lines; he shows the ability to take turns, use manners, wash himself, clean up a mess and even use the potty, but these things aren't exactly "under his belt" as a pro yet. 3 is a fun age, and Nathaniel is a bundle of energy, and very much a sensitve sweetheart who just wants to snuggle and yet show off all the things he can do.

The party was great fun. It was the first time that my side of the family got to celebrate his birthhday with us, as we were in Michigan for my dad's open-heart surgery. My Aunt Donna graciously hosted the party for us in her home, and we had a lot of fun watching the kids play with balloons, eat cake, and just visit with family. Of course, Nathaniel was hilarious with his sunglasses on at night, and in the house, and running around everywhere, so excited about his Bob & Larry cake and shiny presents.

It is always a blessing to celebrate a birthday, thinking on God's blessings to us and His everlasting mercies that surround our lives. It is even a greater blessing when we get to share our lives with those whom we love, and I will always look back on that night with fond affection and tears in my eyes, not only for my baby boy growing up, but for the blessing of my family.
